This was an immensely succesful scheme and was awarded a National Considerate Constructors Award for 2009 and moved Brambledown into a new level of construction exclellence.
This scheme involved Brambledown undertaking complete External revitalisation work to every house frontage along several City Centre residential streets in Newcastle Upon Tyne's West End.
The works included:
- Door and window replacements to every house
- Brick wall demolition / rebuild
- Roofing repairs to over 60 houses
- Fencing & gate installation
- Railings and copings to each house yard
- Extensive block paving and concreting
- Drainage installation and run off
- Footpath reinstatemen
- Rainwater goods
- Redecoration
- Stonework repairs
- Rendering
- Planting & Turfing.
Brambledown had to work closely with the local residents to ensure that they were carefully considered throughout the construction process. The sight of Brambledown vans were common throughout this area over the 24 month period and local residents were extremely complimentary about Brambledowns level of construction expertise with many writing directly to head office to thank us for our levels of consideration we showed whilst working in their private areas.
Traffic and pedestrian management was a major part of the construction phase of the scheme. These areas were often very busy with traffic and pedestrians during working hours. Brambledown worked with Newcastle City Council to ensure every element of health and safety criteria was met and that works could continue in a safe environment without disruption to the public. Brambledown also had to consider noise disruption and minimised the effect of this wherever possible.
