Shock Pad laid for Full Size Synthetic Football Pitch - Durham Johnston School
The Shock Pad has been installed onto the new 3rd generation synthetic Football pitch at Durham Johnston School by Brambledown. The large area was completed in two days and is now ready for the synthetic carpet to be laid on top of the shock pad base. The synthetic will be rolled into place next week and then line marked soon after.
Today’s modern training programs require long hours of intense, repetitive training on the pitches. To prevent stress injury, a track surface needs to deform evenly in order to properly absorb and return energy, hence the implementation of an underlying shockpad. A track surface also needs to have a consistent response to allow athletes to execute relaxed high-speed training. Long pile or third generation pitch surfaces have been used for Football training at all levels for many years in the UK and the Durham Johnston School will be left with a first class sports pitch when complete.
Brambledown are then ready to move onto the multi use games areas and the grass pitches which will be completed before the summer in time for the grass to mature.
