New Play Area in Bradford opened by Mayor
Brambledown have completed the construction of Grosvenor Ground Play Area in Bradford to a value of approximately £130,000.
The area was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Bradford on the 13th November and hundreds local school children from around the Bradford area were asked to plant crocus bulbs at the opening ceremony to make them feel part of the scheme. This is an innitiative that Brambledown try to incorporate into many of their community schemes so that local residents, namely children can learn to look after, and care for the scheme.
The play area was mainly of timber construction and includes 4 slides, numerous stepping pods, climbing apparatus, swings, and several mounds made from soil that was already on site. Hollows were introduced as a result of building the mounds and both the hollows and mounds were covered with turf to create features within the play area for children to use. Many of the hollows were filled with sand and made into sandpits.
Brambledown also introduced decorative pathways leading through the park and surrounded the play area with numerous semi-mature trees and shrubs. In total over 1,000 crocus bulbs were planted by both Brambledown and local school children at the opening ceremony. Boulders were introduced to the site by Brambledown for use as climbing and sitting objects and form a lovely feature throughout the play area. Further play equipment was neatly introduced to form a natural effect, something that Bradford Council were keen to produce. Rubber safety pads completed the park, much to the enjoyment of hundreds of local children.
