Future Business Magnates Competition Comes to a Close

paul curry brambledownWhat looks to be the final Business Magnates Competition has come to an end with a wonderful presentation night at Ramside Hall Hotel. Paul Curry represented Brambledown and Poplar Tree Garden Centre in the competition and acted as a Business Magnate for Fyndoune Community College. The project involved 13 schools from across the region over 6 months. Each school containing 10-12 Entrepreneurs, had to think up a business idea and develop that business with a series of challenges along the way, culminating in the final presentation of their chosen business/products infront of judges from Durham County Council.

Fyndoune Community College came up with an excellent business model. Their idea was to produce chocolates and other similar products made from Goats milk (a far healthier option than cows milk). They developed the business plan, along with cash flow forecasts and even delegated company positions to each other. The team developed enormously over the 6 months and faced challenges such as The Dragons Den, Cash Dashes and project submissions at various stages. Each stage was marked very tightly by the judges and entrepreneurs had to show a high level of effort and business knowledge to gain marks. Fyndoune Community College finished the project very well and Paul Curry said "I was very proud of the children and the way they had grown into young adults and shown a maturity above their years in developing thier business knowledge."

A great deal of praise must also go to John Tindale from Durham County Council who oversaw and arranged the entire project, and both Brambledown and Poplar Tree Garden Centre have been very proud to be involved in such a wonderful scheme for the past 2 years, and help develop childrens knowledge of business throughout the region.
