Brambledown in Support of Kilimanjaro Charity Climb by Bradley French on behalf of Coco
This year Brambledown are lending our full support to Bradley French in his efforts to climb Kilimanjaro in conjunction with COCO and raise £2,8000 in sponsorship for the charity. It is an extremely worthwhile cause and whilst we are just creeping out of hard times of business, we must not forget those around us who are less fortunate and in less developed surroundings.
This is an extraordinary task and Bradley is under no illusions as to what he has let himself in for. He recently expalined to Paul Curry at Brambledown exactly what he aimed to achieve with the charity and a bit more about himself and the lengths he is going to to raise his necessary funding;
"Having recently completed my A Levels, I am currently on a gap year volunteering at the children’s charity COCO (Comrades of Children Overseas), before going to Manchester University to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics.
COCO was founded in the North East by former Olympian Steve Cram. The charity aims to help children that are plagued by issues such as poverty through the provision of healthcare and education; something many of us take for granted. Since 2000, COCO has raised over £1.3 Million which has primarily funded projects in the developing world. However, those less well off are sometimes a lot closer to home and COCO have been involved in projects such as providing vital equipment to the Sunderland Neonatal Clinic.
Next summer, I am aiming to partake in COCO’s annual climb of Kilimanjaro, which is the largest fundraiser for the charity. In order for me to take part, I am asked to raise £2,800 in sponsorship, I also need money to purchase equipment and am trying to raise sufficient money to remain in Africa after the climb, in order to volunteer on one of COCO’s projects. To raise this money, I am currently working in a Sainsburys Local where I am completing as much overtime as possible around my voluntary work!
