Our level of expertise has grown in the 40 years since Brambledown began operating. We now specialise in all forms of Hard and Soft Landscaping including Natural & Artificial Sportsground Construction, Parks and Playgrounds, Business Parks, Country Parks, Skate Parks and Land Reclamation Sites.

Our worksforce has expanded, along with our Head Offices and so have the size of our projects. We have worked alongside some of the most influential Architects and Clients in the North and have been rewarded with over 12 National British Association of Landscape Industry (BALI) awards, along with many other National accreditations.

Brambledown Pick up National Considerate Constructors Award in Edinburgh

 

considerate constructorsDelegates from Brambledown and Newcastle City Council headed to Edinburgh on the 17th March 2009 to receive their Bronze Award for Construction excellence. This is a major award for Brambledown and shows how far the company has diversified and become one of the leading firms in the Landscape and Construction Industry. This was illustrated by the names of some of the biggest Construction companies present in the awards brochure next to Brambledown and on stage collecting their awards. Brambledown has grown enormously over its 40 years existence and now boasts a considerable amount of experience in the construction industry. As early as 1978 we completed our first Landscape Construction project and since then we have combined the existing knowledge base with new skilled labour, selected from the very best sources around the UK.

Neil Blakelock was joined by Frank Curry (Managing Director of Brambledown) Richard Curry, Ian White, Ian Johnson, David Gibson and Eddie McGuigan to make up the Brambledown representatives. Craig Wilkinson, Graham Nisbett, John Pybus and Paul Holmes, all from Newcastle City Council, made up the rest of the Group.

The Arthurs Hill Project was around £2 Million in value and included a complete facia revitalisation to house frontages in several streets in the West End of Newcastle over a 14 month period. New doors, windows, porchways, pathways, railings, walls, drains and other ellements were included in the project.  The scheme was led by Neil Blakelock from Brambledown (who has been with the company for almost 20 years) and his team who worked tirelessly to produce an exceptional scheme. Brambledown would also like to thank Newcastle City Council for the effort they put into the scheme and the continued support we recieved throughout the project.

This National Considerate Constructors Award is testiment to the companies ability to diversify and to attract and retain some of the most skilled labour in the country from within the landscape and construction industry. This combined with an appreciation of the environment, Brambledowns strict codes of practice and working procedures, and an ability to adabt to changing market conditions enables us to build strong relationships with clients and the community to produce these types of award winning construction projects.


CASE STUDIES - Hard Landscaping

Barnard Castle Skate Park

Barnard Castle Skate Park

Client:

The young people of Barnard Castle have been working towards a skate park for some time. The project involved laying a hard surface area suitable for skating and roller blading, fenced to match the existing multi-sports pitch adjacent to the proposed site and erect a skate park.

Meadowell

Central Focus, Meadowell, North Shields

Client: North Tyneside Council

Redevelopment of the Meadowell area of North Shields. The levels and walls create an amphitheatre effect, while the ‘Celtic Knot’ paving is a distinctive and unique feature. This project won a BALI National Landscape award for Hard Landscaping.

Chester-Le-Street Hospital

Chester-Le-Street Hospital

Client: Robertson Construction

Extensive Hard and soft Landscaping was provided by Brambledown for the new Chester-Le-Street hospital complex. The design also included the installation of ornate courtyard gardens (below) hidden away behind the hospitals main walls. These provided a relaxation area for patients of all ages at the hospital.
Car parking facilities were provided along with pathways, entrance facilities and planting throughout the grounds.

Multi-level, multi-material paving, raised radius planter construction, electrical ducting installation, slot & surface drainage, steps and ramps, street trees, trees and shrubs and public footpath reinstatement.

Client: Newcastle Neighbourhood Services

Consultant: City Design

Budget: £1.5 million

External revitalisation work, brick wall demolition / rebuild, fencing / gates, block paving, concreting, drainage, footpath reinstatement, door replacements, window replacements, roofing repairs, rainwater goods, redecoration, stonework repairs, rendering, planting & turfing.

macmillan collegeMacmillan College Middlesbrough

Client: Macmillan College

Consultant: Leeming Associates

Budget: £250,000

External works to new college in Middlesbrough including resin bind pathways, raised planters, trip rails, pin curbing, carpark construction and new walkways. Also tree and shrub planting as well as brick works.
